Pentagon Affirms “New Dawn” for Iraq

By Con George-Kotzabasis

In a memorandum for the Commander, U.S. Central Command David Petraeus from Secretary of Defense Robert Gates on February 17, 2010, the latter requests to change the name of Operation “Iraqi Freedom” to Operation “New Dawn.” Now even the Obama administration acknowledges that ‘Bush’s war’ in Iraq has been a success.

In view of this ‘revelation’ by the Obama administration when will it dawn upon all the vehement blind critics of the war, among them Clemons, Kervick, and Norheim of The Wahington Note, now that even the Obama presidency acknowledges that ‘Bush’s war’ has brought a shining new dawn on Iraq and has been a resplendent success on the part of General Petraeus and General McChrystal?  (The latter leading U.S. Special Forces in Iraq, which, according to the investigative journalist, Bob Woodward, played a decisive role in decimating the leadership of the insurgency.)  Or will they continue doggedly to persist, in their prejudiced political blindness, that it was a failure, and hence choose to be led by their dogs?

But the ultimate ‘curse’ upon all the critics of the war will be cast by history which will unquestionably acclaim as Bush’s victory.
